Washington is the state of weather confusion….

Posted on May 21, 2009

Washington is the state of weather confusion.  I opened my eyes at 2am and realized that the pelting rain outside would be ample enough to saturate my yard so I scurried into the garage to deactivate the sprinkler system.  As I walked back toward the bedroom I realized my teeth were chattering so the heating system had to be reactivated.  Why did I take that extra blanket off the bed?

40 years in this state of weather confusion, but I cannot imagine moving to any other state.  We live out near Black Diamond with trees so green and amazing views of mountains that it takes your breath away.  We are actually nestled between Maple Valley, Covington and Black Diamond in a boot of Kent.  There are little Kent pockets all around.  I believe there is some Kent out in Ravensdale.

My lifelong friends encourage me to meet them closer to civilization for get-togethers but they are in awe when they take the time to drive out to South King County to enjoy the beauty of the area.   Issaquah was my city of youth.  It was not a destination city and many people would ask me how to spell it.  Now, I cannot get down Front Street without time frustrations.  So, I keep moving further South, but keep my office in the Renton Highlands.   There is just no greater place to live and work than South King.

I need to turn my fireplace on and grab some coffee.  The clouds are appearing as the sun rises behind them, the rain is watering my lawn, the a.m. heating cycle just clicked on and I need to grab a sweatshirt to calm the goose bumps on my arms.  Its mid-May in the great Northwest!
